In its current incarnation, Paco lives on a raglan shirt made with ivory and navy interlock knit. The material is a heavier weight than jersey, really nice to the touch, and it stretches nicely to hug cute little bellies. The shirt can be made with short, 3/4, or long sleeves, and is available in different sizes for kids from 3 months to 5 years old (see image n.5 for the size chart). The 3-6 mth size however, is made as a lap–shoulder shirt (babies much prefer this over a ribbed neck going over their heads).
Paco is a three-layer reverse appliqué. You stitch to anchor one layer and clip it to reveal the next layer. Then stitch over the second layer, and clip it to reveal the third. With this latest version, I have revamped my sewing process to eliminate excess fabric and make the finished appliqué as lightweight as possible. This photo set and our Facebook page show additional images and a behind–the–scenes look of the genesis and making process of our little friend.
Care information: Machine wash warm, gentle cycle. No bleach. Tumble dry low. Medium iron if needed (but not over the ribbing). Do not dry clean.
